Adding New Locations and Sub-Locations
đ„ Video Walkthrough: A video guide accompanies this article â watch it here.
Overview
New locations and sub-locations can be added at any time and at any point within the existing location hierarchy. At least one location must exist in the hierarchy before assets and task data can be associated with a client.
Adding a New Location
Navigate to the Location Explorer or use Add New Location from the Maintenance menu.
When prompted, select a parent location from the hierarchy.
To place the new location at the top level (root of the hierarchy), select the client as the parent.
Complete the location details and save.
Adding a Sub-Location
Navigate to the location you want to add a sub-location beneath.
Select Add Sub-Location from the location's side menu.
The parent location is automatically set to the location you were viewing â no manual selection is required.
Complete the sub-location details and save.
Things to Keep in Mind
At least one location is required â assets and task data cannot be associated with a client until at least one location exists in the hierarchy.
Root-level locations use the client as their parent â when adding a top-level location, ensure you select the client (not another location) as the parent to place it correctly in the hierarchy.
Sub-location parent is set automatically â when adding a sub-location from the location details screen, the parent is pre-populated, reducing the risk of placing the sub-location in the wrong part of the hierarchy.
