Managing User Roles in ZetaSafe
đ„ Video Walkthrough: A video guide accompanies this article â watch it here.
Overview
User roles in ZetaSafe control what each user can access and do within the system. Roles can be edited to add friendly names for easier identification, and can be changed when a user's access requirements change.
Navigating to a User's Roles
There are two ways to access a user's role settings:
Via User Management â navigate to the User Management list and select the relevant user.
Via the logged-in username â click on the username displayed in the top corner of the ZetaSafe screen.
Adding a Friendly Role Name
Friendly role names make it easier to distinguish between roles, particularly when a user has multiple roles within the same client that do not have obvious distinctions.
Locate the relevant user using one of the methods above.
Click the Edit button next to the role you wish to update.
Enter a friendly name for the role in the field provided.
Save the changes.
Once updated, the friendly name will be displayed in the role list after the user's next successful login.
Changing a Role
Locate the relevant user using one of the methods above.
Click the Edit button next to the role you wish to change.
Complete the Change Role modal that appears, selecting the new role as required.
Save the changes.
Things to Keep in Mind
Friendly names are display only â they do not affect the permissions or access level of the role itself.
Friendly names appear after next login â the updated name will not display until the user logs out and back in.
Multiple roles per user â users can hold more than one role within the same client. Friendly names are especially useful in this scenario to avoid confusion between similarly named roles.
