Location and Asset Type Report

đŸŽ„ Video Walkthrough: A video guide accompanies this article — watch it here.

Overview

The Location and Asset Type Report provides a structured breakdown of all assets grouped by location, with subtotals at each location tier and further categorised by asset type. It also highlights locations with no associated assets, helping you identify potential compliance gaps at a glance.

What the Report Shows

  • Asset counts grouped by location — subtotals are provided at each location tier, giving a clear picture of asset distribution across the hierarchy.

  • Further categorisation by asset type — within each location, assets are broken down by type for more granular visibility.

  • Locations with no assets — any location that contains no assets is highlighted with a red cell, making it immediately visible without needing to search through the data.

Understanding Red-Flagged Locations

Locations highlighted in red indicate that no assets have been recorded against them in ZetaSafe. This does not always mean something has gone wrong — there are legitimate reasons a location may have no assets, such as:

  • It was not feasible to add and barcode all assets during the initial site visit.

  • The location is temporarily or permanently inaccessible.

  • Assets exist at the location but have not yet been recorded in the system.

However, these flags are designed to surface potential compliance gaps where assets may have been overlooked, particularly for locations that require regular monitoring.

This report helps you clarify your current status and take action before gaps become compliance issues.

Recommended Actions for Red-Flagged Locations

When you identify a red-flagged location, review it and determine the appropriate next step:

Situation

Recommended Action

Assets exist but haven't been added

Add and barcode the relevant assets in ZetaSafe

Location is genuinely inaccessible

Document the reason and schedule a follow-up review

Location no longer requires monitoring

Review whether the location should be deactivated

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Run this report periodically — new locations can be added over time and may not yet have assets associated with them.

  • Red cells do not always indicate a problem — use the report as a prompt to review, not a confirmation that something has gone wrong.

  • All flagged locations should be actioned or documented — maintaining a clear record of why a location has no assets supports a strong audit trail.
