Accessing Multiple Clients with Handheld Licences

Overview

In some cases, users such as contractors working across multiple resellers may need handheld access to clients outside their normal scope. ZetaSafe supports this by allowing additional handheld licences to be granted for specific clients, without requiring a separate device.

Before You Begin

  • The person requesting additional access will need to provide their unique device ID from their existing handheld licence.

  • Additional licences can only be granted by the client who is issuing the licence — this cannot be done by the user themselves.

  • Ensure the user also has an appropriate user role assigned for each additional client they need access to (see below).

Steps to Grant Additional Handheld Access

1. Obtain the Device ID

Ask the user to provide their unique device ID from their existing handheld licence in ZetaSafe.

2. Create the Additional Licence

Using the device ID, the issuing client creates a new handheld licence for the additional client. Refer to Handheld Licences Overview for guidance on creating a handheld licence.

3. Sync the Device

Once the additional licence has been granted, the user should sync their handheld device. The newly authorised client(s) will then appear in their client list.

Assigning a User Role for the Additional Client

Granting a handheld licence alone is not sufficient for full access. The user will also need an appropriate user role assigned for each additional client.

If the user can see the new client in their list but cannot log in, this indicates that a user role has not yet been assigned. Contact the relevant client administrator to have the appropriate role added.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Licence issuance is client-controlled — only the client issuing the licence can grant additional handheld access. Users cannot grant this themselves.

  • One device, multiple clients — the same physical device can be used to access multiple clients once additional licences have been granted, keeping device management simple.

  • Both a licence and a role are required — missing either will prevent the user from successfully accessing the additional client.
